Zoo Jobs: Meerkat Volunteers
Become a Meerkat Volunteer
Want to share your time?
Do you enjoy spending time at the Wild Animal Park?
Do you enjoy talking to people and answering questions?
Become a Meerkat Volunteer for the Zoological Society of San Diego!
Although our involvement opportunities do not involve animal care or animal
contact, we offer a variety of opportunities for volunteers at both the San
Diego Zoo and the Wild Animal Park.
Currently our greatest need is for Information Partners at the Wild Animal Park. These volunteers help guests find their way to key exhibits and answer a range of guest service questions. Positions are available on both weekdays and weekends, from 11a.m. to 3 p.m.
Meerkat
Volunteers must be Zoological Society of
San Diego members and 21 years of age or older. They must attend a Volunteer
Information Fair, submit an application, attend an orientation, and pay an
annual fee ($20 the first year and $15 after that). Meerkat Volunteers must
donate at least 60 hours of volunteer time each year.
To find out more about the specific involvement opportunities available, and the date for our next Volunteer Information Fair, call our Volunteer Information Line at (619) 685-3263 or e-mail us and we will send you additional information.
Listed below are a few examples of the other areas where additional volunteer support is needed:
- Information Partner positions at the Zoo and the Wild Animal Park.
- Assisting with monthly habitat restoration projects on the third Saturday of each month in Balboa Park.
- Clerical/data entry projects at the Zoo, Monday through Friday.
- Removing litter from our “adopt-a-highway” area just west of the Wild Animal Park.
