Kid Territory: Crafts: Lion Face

Have a grrrreat time making this lion's face out of an old wire coat hanger!

What you need

What you do

1. Bend the wire coat hanger into a circle (ask a grown-up to help with this).

2. Make the lion's eyes and nose using the 3 thick pipe cleaners and attach to the top of the circle.

3. Make the lion's whiskers by twisting the 2 thin pipe cleaners.

4. One by one, fold the long, raw edges of each fabric strip into the middle of the strip and then fold the strip in half, length wise. (See Fabric Wreath craft for pictures of the next few steps.)

5. Bend the raw edges together into a U shape.

6. Slide the strip under the wire with the round loop side to the middle, “legs” to the outside.

7. Slip the “legs” thru the loop and pull tight.

8. Repeat again and again until entire the entire wire is covered. Alternate the colors of the strips. More or fewer strips may be required, depending on fabric pliability.
